About the artist
For this Year of the Fire Horse collection with MiiR, I chose to reinterpret the traditional Chinese zodiac animal through the lens of geometric abstraction, using simple flat shapes to express motion, energy, and symbolism.
My background in graphic design informs visual decisions like working with limited color palettes and using shapes within a grid structure. I’m also influenced by traditional folk arts, such as Chinese paper cutting, which I practiced growing up.
By bringing familiar motifs like Chinese lanterns, coins, and clouds together with modernist yet playful geometric forms, I aimed to create a fresh and exciting expression of the Fire Horse that blends the old and the new. I hope these pieces bring good fortune and luck to celebrate the Year of the Fire Horse!
