Learn more about Juneteenth (annually on June 19th)

Juneteenth is the oldest annually-celebrated commemoration the end of slavery in the United States.

Learn more at Juneteenth.com and the National Museum of African American History and Culture. There is also a PBS page, New York Times article, and Forbes article (among many other resources) that share about the history of Juneteenth and how communities and states celebrate it today.

Alongside learning more, other ways to honor the holiday on Juneteenth and everyday are to donate to racial justice organizations, march where and when safe, and shop from Black-owned businesses.

A great resources that curates Black business lists, news, and interviews is Five Fifths, which is a "is a platform built on the idea that every person is exactly that, a human being deserving of liberty, respect and most importantly opportunity."

• Color of Change | Color of Change leads campaigns that build real power for Black communities. They challenge injustice, hold corporate and political leaders accountable, commission game-changing research on systems of inequality, and advance solutions for racial justice that can transform our world.
• Black Visions Collective | Black Visions Collective (BLVC) believes in a future where all Black people have autonomy, safety is community-led, and we are in right relationship within our ecosystems.
• Black Lives Matter | #BlackLivesMatter was founded in 2013 in response to the acquittal of Trayvon Martin’s murderer. Black Lives Matter Foundation, Inc is a global organization in the US, UK, and Canada, whose mission is to eradicate white supremacy and build local power to intervene in violence inflicted on Black communities by the state and vigilantes.
• NAACP’s Legal Defense Fund | The NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc. is America’s premier legal organization fighting for racial justice.
